Camp News

There will be a camp meeting on Tuesday, January 29th. The student meeting is scheduled for 9:15-10:15 am here at Challenger Elementary. A parents informational meeting will be held at Hutchings at 6:00 pm. We usually combine meetings with other elementary schools so that we can maximize everyone's time. Hutchings Elementary is located at 3503 Bigelow Rd. The parent meeting is optional, but informative. It is really great for parents who have fifth grade students who are visiting the camp for the first time.

REPORT CARD NEWS

SCIENCE-The Caretakers of the Earth Unit concluded recently and the post test was given on Wednesday. Final grades are based on test scores, a poster project, along with selected pages from their journal.

MATH-Math grades will be based largely on test scores with a smaller percentage based on the homework grades.

SOCIAL STUDIES-Social Studies grades will be based on the unit tests Both unit tests this marking period were open note, meaning that students were able to use any notes they took during classes to complete the test. It was fitting due to the amount of information that was on the tests, and it helped students to see how good notetaking can help learning. Extra credit assignments were optional again this time, and all students who felt that their learning was not accurately measured on the tests have been invited to work on an extra project or assignment as in the first quarter.

ELA-English Language Arts scores will be highly based on AR, Sign of the Beaver assignments, and writing scores.
